Requirements
- Have 7+ years of experience designing and building scalable backend services in a modern production environment.
- Demonstrate strong proficiency in Go.
- Understand distributed systems and service-oriented architecture.
- Have experience working on a team that builds and maintains a native mobile app.
- Understand how mobile apps consume backend services, including API design, versioning, backward compatibility, release cycles, latency, and offline behavior.
- Be well-versed in SQL and relational database design.
- Be comfortable with JavaScript/TypeScript or confident learning Node.js quickly.
- Have general frontend knowledge and be able to perform basic tasks in frontend applications.
- Be based in a European time zone and have excellent English skills.
- Have a computer science degree, a related degree, or equivalent work experience (desired).
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain core APIs and backend services for the mobile app and marketplace.
- Own operations and monitoring of production systems.
- Review backend designs and API changes across squads to ensure they fit the mobile app's needs and constraints.
- Integrate third-party systems and APIs into the platform.
- Own the design and implementation of new features and services.
- Identify best practices and propose standards for the engineering department.
- Document and demonstrate solutions through technical documentation, diagrams, code comments, and clear code.
- Mentor junior colleagues and onboard new joiners.
- Collaborate with engineers, product managers, designers, and business stakeholders.
