Requirements

  • Have SLED telecommunications, carrier, hardware, or network services sales/business development experience within the last 12 months.
  • Bring 7–10 years of experience working within the SLED sector.
  • Have at least 5 years of sales or business development experience calling on government or education organizations.
  • Have extensive knowledge of wireline telecommunications technologies and recurring revenue business models.
  • Know the relevant acquisition and procurement policies.
  • Be able to explain telecommunications competitors, the industry landscape, and industry trends.
  • Demonstrate success winning contracts and business in the government or education marketplace.
  • Show a track record of developing business within specific agencies.
  • Have strategic planning, account management, account planning, and contract negotiation skills.
  • Have training in consultative sales techniques.
  • Use Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint to create documents, analyze data, and develop presentations.
  • Be able to articulate technical, contractual, commercial, and management response requirements.
  • Be able to travel nationally and internationally to customer facilities as required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement market penetration and growth strategies for assigned government organizations.
  • Assess customer requirements, long-term objectives, and priorities, and communicate them to internal Lumen groups.
  • Identify teaming partners and develop competitive strategies based on competitor strengths and weaknesses.
  • Participate in industry associations and facilitate agency and industry meetings.
  • Schedule meetings between Lumen executive leadership and government organization executives.
  • Identify, qualify, and develop strategic opportunities and communicate priorities to senior management.
  • Track milestones and metrics for strategic plans, projects, and programs.
  • Promote Lumen services through existing and new contracts and teaming opportunities.
  • Lead initial gate reviews and support capture and proposal efforts throughout the opportunity lifecycle.
  • Develop customer proposals and coordinate account resources across marketing, pre-sales engineering, and product management.
