Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related field; an MBA or MS is a plus.
- At least 2 years of experience in renewable energy, structured finance, infrastructure investing, investment banking, or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated exposure to tax equity, project finance, or other structured renewable energy transactions.
- Strong financial modeling and structuring skills, including mastery of core valuation and return concepts.
- Strong Excel skills and comfort building and navigating complex financial models.
- Experience preparing transaction materials and conducting due diligence.
- Familiarity with partnership flip, T-flip, hybrid, and preferred equity structures, including allocations, capital accounts, and flip mechanics.
- FINRA SIE, Series 79, and 63, or willingness to obtain them under Crux’s broker-dealer sponsorship.
- VBA or Python skills are a plus.
- Exposure to IRS requirements, safe harbor tests, or recapture provisions is a plus.
- Experience in a transaction-focused environment with client interaction responsibility is a plus.
- Ability to manage multiple workstreams in a fast-paced environment and adopt new technology platforms and AI tools.
Responsibilities
- Screen and underwrite new opportunities, including initial reviews and pre-pricing screens.
- Run and update financial models for tax, hybrid, and preferred equity transactions.
- Prepare Investment Committee materials covering transaction economics, sensitivities, and risk analyses.
- Work with senior Structuring team members to drive transactions from intake to closing.
- Analyze sponsor financials, project contracts, and diligence materials to identify risks and value drivers.
- Use technology and AI-enabled tools to improve modeling, diligence, and reporting accuracy and efficiency.
- Improve and standardize models, Investment Committee memos, and term sheet templates.
- Support portfolio management and reporting, including monitoring project performance against underwriting.
- Support initiatives to scale tax equity workflows and develop technology-enabled financing products and solutions.
