Requirements
- Have 5+ years of experience in software engineering or engineering management.
- Have at least 2 years of direct engineering team management experience, not solely technical leadership.
- Have experience managing vendor or offshore development teams alongside internal employees.
- Demonstrate strong Jira and agile process expertise, including backlog management and sprint ceremonies.
- Bring experience in healthcare, insurance, or another regulated industry, including familiarity with sensitive data handling and audit trails.
- Be comfortable working at SMB scale in organizations of 50–500 employees.
- Communicate effectively across business stakeholders and engineering teams, and write clear acceptance criteria.
- Preferred: understand Salesforce development environments such as Experience Cloud, Apex, and LWC.
- Preferred: have experience with AWS cloud services, including web application hosting, serverless architectures, or regulated infrastructure.
- Preferred: have healthcare technology experience such as EHR integrations, patient portals, provider-facing tools, or care coordination platforms.
- Preferred: have experience with platform migration or modernization from legacy architectures to cloud-native designs.
Responsibilities
- Convert stakeholder requests into Jira epics, stories, and acceptance criteria, and maintain a prioritized backlog.
- Ensure requirements are complete and understood before sprint commitment; coordinate design-to-development handoffs.
- Run agile ceremonies and manage sprint velocity, capacity planning, blockers, and release cadence.
- Coordinate QA acceptance, go/no-go decisions, production readiness, and documented release approvals and test evidence.
- Maintain delivery dashboards and provide weekly progress updates to the CIO.
- Manage performance reviews, career development, recruitment, and onboarding for internal engineers.
- Oversee day-to-day delivery by offshore vendor teams and track their commitments, velocity, and quality.
- Coordinate deployment dependencies and environment readiness with IT Operations, including infrastructure, DevOps, and security.
- Improve delivery processes in partnership with business stakeholders, IT Operations, and Information Security.
