Requirements
- Bring software engineering experience building clean abstractions and APIs.
- Have systems engineering depth in cloud, Kubernetes, networking, and infrastructure as code (IaC).
- Have owned reliability practices including SLOs, observability, on-call, and incident response.
- Have current, hands-on production coding experience.
- Have seen large, long-running projects through, including migrations and platform sunsets.
- Be able to structure infrastructure and delivery for security, velocity, and reliability.
- Demonstrate customer empathy by understanding the engineers served and identifying which capabilities are useful.
- Be able to initiate and deliver work across the organization.
- Regulated-data experience with HIPAA, PHI, SOC 2, or HITRUST environments is preferred.
- Experience turning an infrastructure or DevOps team into a product-minded platform team is preferred.
- Experience building scalable platform support, such as support tiers, office hours, documentation, and developer advocacy, is preferred.
- Experience making cloud and CI costs visible and actionable for teams is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Build self-service APIs, templates, and golden paths for CI/CD, environments, and observability.
- Improve platform quality with test and regression gates, progressive delivery, fast rollback, and supply-chain and policy checks.
- Make cloud and CI costs visible and attributable to the teams generating them.
- Run the platform as an internal product by identifying team needs, prioritizing capabilities, publishing a roadmap, and measuring adoption and outcomes.
- Lead platform migrations through completion, automate migration work, and sunset replaced capabilities.
- Manage platform stakeholders, bring shadow platforms onto the paved road, and balance requests while maintaining trust.
- Set technical direction for the platform and evolve its capabilities.
- Coach Senior Engineers through design partnership and review.
