Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years of software or data engineering experience, with demonstrated ownership of production systems.
  • Deep experience with event-driven architecture, including event buses, schema evolution, idempotency, dead-letter handling, and replay.
  • Hands-on experience with a managed event platform such as EventBridge, SNS/SQS, or Kinesis, and/or Kafka with a schema registry.
  • Strong multi-account AWS fundamentals, including Lambda, IAM, S3, Glue Catalog, Athena, Firehose, and Iceberg.
  • Production-grade Go or TypeScript experience and willingness to work in the JVM.
  • Production-scale Terraform experience.
  • Daily experience with agentic coding tools such as Claude Code or equivalent; practical understanding of MCP and reusable agent skills and workflows.
  • Hands-on experience building with an LLM API, including prompt and context engineering, structured output, tool calling, evaluation, and guardrails.
  • Experience with PII, tokenization, and least-privilege access in a regulated environment, including assessing data exposure to models and risks from prompt injection and agent permissions.
  • Ability to write clear technical design documents and proposals, explain technical trade-offs to non-engineers, and flag cross-team dependencies early.

Responsibilities

  • Own complex engineering tickets from design through implementation, testing, and production.
  • Author and review Technical Design Documents and contribute to Architecture Decision Records.
  • Build and maintain the Common Event Bus, including event validation and enrichment, EventBridge routing, dead-letter handling and replay, and event delivery to the Iceberg lakehouse.
  • Maintain Kafka/Debezium change-data-capture pipelines and Benthos jobs for downstream consumers.
  • Steward event and API contracts, schema definitions, generated bindings, versioning, and compatibility in trueml-model (OTDS).
  • Write Terraform and deploy infrastructure through Atlantis across sbx, dev, stg, and prd.
  • Use and improve AI coding-agent workflows, maintain repository context and skill files, and build or consume MCP servers.
  • Own LLM-backed services, including prompt and context design, structured output, tool calling, validation, model selection, token budgets, and cost.
  • Instrument systems and pipelines for delivery rates, validation failures, dead-letter queue depth, and latency; drive reliability improvements.
  • Partner with Data Engineering, Data Science, and Product on data contracts, schema changes, and onboarding event publishers and subscribers.
