Requirements
- Have 3+ years of experience managing one or more engineering teams.
- Have 4+ years of experience building highly scalable and fault-tolerant systems.
- Understand a broad range of design approaches and how to deconstruct architecture for development by multiple teams.
- Be able to scope projects with target dates to meet business needs.
- Be able to assess feature priorities and negotiate scope with Product Management.
- Be able to communicate complex technical subjects to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Be familiar with Agile software delivery and SCRUM methodology.
- Have strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Have report-writing skills and the ability to gather, evaluate, analyze, and logically structure information.
- Be able to work cross-functionally in an enterprise environment.
- Be open to occasional travel to Fanatics offices and other locations for conferences, events, meetings, and team-building activities.
- Preferred: experience in a start-up environment, a strong mobile software engineering background, or experience with Kotlin Multiplatform and/or Compose Multiplatform.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership within the engineering vertical.
- Build and lead engineering teams to deliver software and follow engineering best practices.
- Manage, coach, and develop engineers working across mobile and backend platforms.
- Clarify technical requirements, negotiate priorities, and manage projects through daily scrum activities.
- Work with product and design partners to create and communicate roadmaps to executives and stakeholders.
- Set clear objectives, use data and KPIs to support transparency, and improve engineering practices and systems.
- Drive adoption of AI-assisted engineering workflows, tooling, documentation, testing support, code review augmentation, and developer enablement practices.
- Provide status, KPI, and metrics updates to executives and stakeholders.
- Recruit, assess, and onboard engineers, and align cross-functional stakeholders around actionable roadmaps.
- Participate in architecture discussions, operational reviews, development workflows, and engineering quality practices.
