Requirements
- Have a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, CIS, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Have 3+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Have experience designing and building stable, maintainable, and performant software or services.
- Have strong coding ability in at least one modern programming language and comfort working across a typical software delivery lifecycle.
- Have experience with code reviews, design trade-offs, debugging, testing, and production support.
- Have strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional partners.
- Bring knowledge of Java, SQL, XML, HTML, CSS, JavaScript/jQuery, object-oriented programming, and relational databases such as Oracle.
- Preferred: experience with APIs, integrations, cloud platforms, observability tooling, relational or NoSQL databases, or distributed systems.
- Preferred: experience using AI-assisted development tools and validating generated output.
- Preferred: experience in benefits administration, HR technology, regulated SaaS, or complex B2B systems.
Responsibilities
- Deliver clean, efficient code based on sprint commitments and follow code standards and best practices.
- Design, implement, test, deploy, and support major features, services, or substantial portions of team software.
- Make design trade-offs involving maintainability, performance, dependencies, delivery speed, and operational risk.
- Lead root-cause analysis for complex defects.
- Provide constructive code reviews and contribute to design discussions, planning, and operational excellence reviews.
- Improve the team's development, testing, deployment, documentation, or support mechanisms.
- Use approved AI tools for coding, debugging, testing, and documentation, and review generated output for correctness, security, and maintainability.
- Mentor newer engineers and help onboard teammates to the team's software, architecture, and operational practices.
