Requirements

  • Have 10+ years of relevant experience, ideally including Chief of Staff, operations, consulting, program management, or similar work in complex, multi-stakeholder organizations.
  • Hold a bachelor's degree; an MBA or other master's degree is a plus but not required.
  • Have experience building in a 0-to-1 environment, such as a startup, agency, nonprofit, or fast-scaling organization.
  • Demonstrate a track record of creating and rolling out structures, systems, and processes.
  • Be highly organized and able to manage multiple interconnected workstreams with attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Bring strong stakeholder management skills and the judgment to navigate differing perspectives and tailor communications.
  • Be a systems thinker and proactive problem solver who can identify gaps and build practical solutions.
  • Have strong executive communication skills, including synthesizing complex information into narratives, presentations, recommendations, and decisions.
  • Be resourceful and comfortable moving between strategic thinking and hands-on execution.
  • Use AI and emerging technologies with sound judgment in systems, workflows, and decision-making.
  • Demonstrate sound judgment and the ability to build relationships across organizational levels.

Responsibilities

  • Drive alignment and accountability across Functional Leads through status meetings, one-to-one meetings, and follow-ups.
  • Track priorities, dependencies, decisions, and information across College workstreams.
  • Identify and resolve blockers, escalating issues to leadership when needed.
  • Own and improve College operating rhythms, meetings, workflows, and ways of working.
  • Identify gaps in systems, processes, communication, or ownership and implement practical solutions.
  • Lead All Hands forums by gathering updates, developing materials, and communicating progress and wins.
  • Shape communications and sharebacks for Merit America staff and leadership.
  • Support change management and practices that strengthen communication, collaboration, accountability, and culture.
  • Advise leadership by reviewing work, surfacing organizational patterns and risks, and developing narratives and presentations.
