Requirements
- 10+ years of relevant experience, ideally including Chief of Staff, operations, consulting, program management, or similar roles in complex, multi-stakeholder organizations.
- Bachelor's degree required; an MBA or other master's degree is a plus but not required.
- Experience building in a 0→1 environment such as a startup, agency, nonprofit, or fast-scaling organization.
- Track record of creating and rolling out structure, systems, and processes.
- Strong program management skills to keep multiple interconnected workstreams moving with attention to detail and follow-through.
- Stakeholder management skills and judgment to navigate different perspectives, build trust, and tailor communication to different audiences.
- Systems thinking and proactive problem-solving skills.
- Executive communication skills, including synthesizing complex information into narratives, presentations, recommendations, and decisions.
- Resourcefulness and ability to move between strategic thinking and hands-on execution.
- Comfort with AI and emerging technologies, with sound judgment about their use in systems, workflows, and decision-making.
- Sound judgment and executive presence to serve as a thought partner to senior leaders and build relationships across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Drive alignment and accountability across Functional Leads through status meetings, 1:1 connects, and follow-ups.
- Maintain visibility across College workstreams, connecting priorities, dependencies, decisions, and information.
- Identify and resolve blockers, escalating issues to leadership when intervention is needed.
- Own and improve College operating rhythms, meetings, workflows, and ways of working.
- Identify gaps in systems, processes, communication, or ownership and implement practical solutions.
- Lead College-wide forums, gather updates, and develop materials that communicate progress and wins.
- Tailor communications and sharebacks for Merit America staff, leadership, and other stakeholder groups.
- Support change management and build practices that strengthen communication, collaboration, accountability, and culture.
- Pressure-test work, provide feedback, and determine what requires senior leadership input or approval.
- Develop drafts of narratives and presentations, and partner with leadership on complex organizational challenges.
