Requirements
- Bring 10+ years of experience in security or software engineering.
- Have 4+ years of experience managing security teams.
- Have a software engineering background and have shipped production software.
- Have a proven record of building and scaling high-performing security teams.
- Bring deep technical fluency in cloud-native environments, including AWS organizations and multi-account governance.
- Have experience with Kubernetes, identity and access, detection engineering, and modern SDLC security.
- Demonstrate cross-functional leadership and a record of delivering security outcomes through engineering teams.
- Produce decision-ready written documents and drive alignment asynchronously.
- Be comfortable presenting to C-level leadership, customers, and auditors.
- Experience with managers of managers or equivalent scope is preferred.
- Experience in compliance-driven environments such as FedRAMP, SOC 2, or ISO 27001 is a strong signal.
- Experience securing AI/ML systems or governing AI adoption at scale is a strong signal.
Responsibilities
- Act with full authority as deputy to the CISO and represent the security organization to executives, customers, and regulators.
- Lead, coach, and grow managers and senior engineers across Security Engineering and Security Operations.
- Own the security engineering roadmap across cloud security architecture, detection and response, identity, vulnerability management, and secure-by-default platform investments.
- Drive cross-functional programs with Engineering, IT, and Product, including AI security governance, data perimeter controls, and federal compliance initiatives.
- Set engineering standards for the security organization, emphasizing everything as code, automation, and outcome measurement.
- Build hiring pipelines and own performance management, promotion cases, and succession planning within the teams.
- Translate technical risk into business terms for executives and the board, and business priorities into a coherent security strategy.
