Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of accounting experience with significant responsibility for inventory and cost accounting.
  • Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP inventory accounting, including ASC 330, standard costing, inventory valuation, and variance analysis.
  • Hands-on ERP experience with inventory and BOM modules; Infor experience is preferred.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including lookups, pivot tables, reconciliations, financial modeling, and data analysis.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively in a fully remote environment.
  • CPA or CMA certification is preferred.
  • Experience in manufacturing, life sciences, chemicals, consumer products, or a similar inventory-intensive environment is preferred.
  • Experience working with contract manufacturers, third-party logistics providers, or external warehouse arrangements is preferred.
  • Experience supporting financial audits and documenting internal controls is a plus.
  • Experience developing cost assumptions for long-range financial plans or financial models is preferred.
  • Exposure to multi-entity or international accounting operations is beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end accounting for raw materials, work-in-process, and finished goods held internally and through third-party manufacturers and warehouses.
  • Prepare and record monthly inventory transactions in the ERP system, including receipts, transfers, adjustments, and cost of sales.
  • Reconcile the inventory subledger to the general ledger and maintain supporting documentation and reviewer approvals.
  • Perform inventory valuation analysis under U.S. GAAP, including lower-of-cost-or-net-realizable-value analysis and excess and obsolete inventory reserve assessments.
  • Analyze purchase price, usage, yield, and standard-to-actual variances and recommend corrective entries.
  • Coordinate physical inventory and cycle counts, review third-party reports and confirmations, and reconcile external records to internal balances.
  • Create and maintain ERP Bills of Materials, control changes, reconcile BOM unit costs, and maintain standard costs through cost roll-ups and inventory revaluations.
  • Develop cost assumptions for five-year financial planning and model cost of goods sold and gross margin scenarios with Operations, Supply Chain, and Finance.
  • Prepare inventory schedules and audit support, respond to external auditor requests, and document processes and internal controls.
  • Identify and implement accounting process improvements and support broader accounting activities and ad-hoc projects.
