Requirements
- Bring 7+ years of experience in a DBRE, SRE, or production DBA role.
- Have senior-level expertise in production database environments and independently manage complex reliability, performance, and recovery challenges.
- Demonstrate strong MySQL database expertise.
- Have strong object-oriented programming proficiency in Python or Go.
- Have practical experience with the Django framework for tooling or application development.
- Have hands-on experience designing, deploying, and managing scalable infrastructure on AWS.
- Have strong experience with Terraform, Bash scripting, and Unix/Linux system administration.
- Have practical experience with Docker, GKE, Vault, ProxySQL, and GitLab for CI/CD.
- Understand database reliability practices, including replication, clustering, failover, backup, disaster recovery, restoration, and performance optimization.
- Bring client-facing and consultative skills, including managing expectations and competing priorities.
- Use a systematic, analytical approach to troubleshooting and root-cause identification in complex distributed environments.
- Work independently while maintaining documentation, reliability, responsiveness, and customer service standards.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, administer, and optimize MySQL database environments.
- Assess customer infrastructure and operational processes, and recommend improvements to availability, performance, uptime, and recoverability.
- Administer backup and disaster recovery procedures, monitor environments, respond to alerts, and troubleshoot operational issues.
- Oversee database backup, clustering, mirroring, replication, failover, restoration, and recovery.
- Develop and review technical action plans for maintenance, deployments, upgrades, and database lifecycle activities.
- Support incident and problem management, implement changes and service requests, and prepare customer status and incident reports.
- Improve internal tools and processes by designing monitoring checks and enhancing DBA toolkits.
- Participate in presales activities, proposal preparation, technical calls, and customer-facing business development.
- Mentor and train Database Consultants and contribute to technical training.
- Contribute technical content, presentations, conferences, user groups, performance reviews, and operational improvements.
