Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 8+ years of experience in systems engineering or a related field, particularly supporting production environments.
  • 3+ years of experience with SQL queries and monitoring.
  • Strong experience with AWS and/or Azure Cloud, including services such as S3, Step Functions, Batch Jobs, and CloudWatch.
  • Proficiency with Linux/Unix and Windows operating systems, including system administration, user management, permissions, and monitoring.
  • Experience with Python, Bash, or PowerShell for automation and configuration management.
  • Experience with Ansible, Puppet, Chef, or SaltStack and knowledge of Infrastructure as Code, including CloudFormation.
  • Experience with monitoring and diagnostic tools such as Dynatrace, ScienceLogic, and CloudWatch.
  • Knowledge of networking concepts, protocols, firewall configurations, VPN setup, and network monitoring tools.
  • Working knowledge of AWS RDS SQL Server and Oracle RDBMS/RDS, including database performance, backup, and recovery.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and experience with Git, GitHub Actions, AWS CodeBuild, and AWS CodeDeploy.
  • Willingness to participate in an on-call production support rotation.
  • Experience with Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) X.12 medical claims, including 837, 834, and 277 formats, is desired.
  • Advanced Red Hat Certified Engineer, Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer, or AWS Certified Solutions Architect certifications are desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day operational support for complex application and cloud systems.
  • Troubleshoot outages and operational issues, restore services, and develop workarounds when needed.
  • Respond to user hardware and software requests, resolving issues or escalating them appropriately.
  • Maintain computing infrastructure, system assets, user access, permissions, monitoring, and configuration.
  • Monitor system performance and reliability and implement improvements to prevent production issues.
  • Develop automation and configuration-management solutions using scripting and automation tools.
  • Support AWS and/or Azure cloud infrastructure and Infrastructure as Code practices.
  • Support database queries, monitoring, performance tuning, backup, and recovery activities.
  • Support CI/CD processes and version-controlled deployments.
  • Maintain security controls, technical documentation, and system inventory, and participate in audits and an on-call rotation.
