Requirements
- Have experience leading and developing engineers in cross-functional software or data engineering teams.
- Have previous Engineering Manager experience with responsibility for people leadership, team performance and delivery.
- Have experience building, scaling or establishing teams, processes or ways of working.
- Bring a strong engineering background and the technical depth to support delivery in a hands-off management role.
- Understand healthcare data standards and common data models, including OMOP, FHIR or similar.
- Have experience with complex data platforms, data products or large-scale data ecosystems.
- Be able to guide discussions about architecture, data modelling, engineering quality and scalability.
- Have experience balancing delivery priorities, technical debt and long-term platform sustainability.
- Have strong stakeholder management skills across technical and non-technical audiences.
- Have experience collaborating with engineers, product managers, data specialists, researchers and senior stakeholders.
- Have facilitation, planning and documentation skills, including experience leading Agile delivery practices.
Responsibilities
- Lead an engineering squad and create conditions for high performance, collaboration and delivery.
- Manage, coach, mentor and support engineers' career development.
- Coordinate priorities, manage risks and drive roadmap delivery across stakeholders.
- Provide technical leadership for data initiatives, including healthcare data models such as OMOP and FHIR.
- Collaborate with Product, Data and Technology teams to deliver scalable, sustainable solutions.
- Facilitate technical and non-technical discussions about priorities, dependencies and trade-offs.
- Promote engineering best practices, continuous improvement and Agile ways of working.
- Oversee technical decisions, balancing delivery pace, quality, resilience and technical debt.
- Support incident management, governance, compliance and service reliability.
- Communicate progress, risks and strategic updates to senior stakeholders and leadership.
