Requirements

  • Have 7+ years in cost, inventory, or manufacturing accounting, including experience in hardware, medical devices, electronics, or another inventory-intensive product environment.
  • Have hands-on ownership of landed cost, inventory valuation, and inventory close, ideally with outsourced manufacturing and third-party-held stock.
  • Have hands-on ownership of accounts payable operations, including vendor master controls, three-way match, payment runs, and AP close.
  • Have experience supporting external audit testing of inventory valuation and reserves under US GAAP, and be able to explain and defend accounting positions.
  • Be comfortable owning ambiguous, cross-system reconciliations.
  • Have advanced Excel skills and be able to present conclusions to Finance leadership and hold them under questioning.
  • Hold a bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • CPA, CMA, or equivalent is preferred.
  • NetSuite, customs and import exposure, 3PL or e-commerce operations, AP automation platforms, SOX, or experience building processes from a low baseline are nice to have.

Responsibilities

  • Set costing methodology, including standard costs, cost rolls, and purchase price and landed cost variance policies.
  • Manage landed cost accruals for duty, tariffs, freight, and brokerage, invoice true-ups, and allocation between inventory and cost of sales.
  • Own inventory valuation under US GAAP and the excess and obsolete reserve methodology.
  • Maintain inventory integrity across contract manufacturer, 3PL, and marketplace locations through reconciliations, cycle counts, cutoff, and audit confirmations or observations.
  • Run procure-to-pay activities, including PO policy, vendor master governance, three-way match, received-not-invoiced, payment runs, disbursement controls, and AP close.
  • Close COGS monthly and analyze gross margins across hardware and subscription revenue with FP&A.
  • Design audit and control processes for inventory, cost, and procure-to-pay cycles.
  • Provide review oversight to the offshore transactional team and present margin analysis to the executive team.
