A minimum of three years of nonprofit accounting experience; a minimum of five years of general ledger accounting experience; a minimum of three years of public accounting experience preferred.

Requirements

  • Hold a bachelor’s degree in accounting.
  • Hold a CPA license.
  • Have extensive knowledge of GAAP.
  • Have at least three years of nonprofit accounting experience.
  • Have at least five years of general ledger accounting experience.
  • Have at least three years of public accounting experience; this is preferred.
  • Have experience in audit preparation and management.
  • Demonstrate advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, and multiple accounting software platforms.
  • Have a successful history of remote work.
  • Be able to work effectively in a virtual, team-oriented environment.
  • Demonstrate organizational, problem-solving, project management, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Review assigned monthly close workpapers, reconciliations, financial statements, and year-end schedules for accuracy, completeness, U.S. GAAP, and firm procedures.
  • Evaluate support for significant balances, estimates, unusual transactions, and accounting conclusions; document review findings and verify corrections.
  • Help engagement teams resolve accounting questions and improve audit readiness.
  • Research nonprofit accounting questions using authoritative guidance and prepare memoranda for Manager review.
  • Monitor accounting developments and contribute to updates to policies, close checklists, templates, and training materials.
  • Develop and present internal training and approved client-facing education, including CPE programs when applicable.
  • Coach accountants and assigned reviewers on technical judgment, documentation, self-review, and review comments.
  • Coordinate assigned review work and training projects, communicating priorities, deadlines, and dependencies.
  • Maintain assigned technical resources and version control as guidance or firm procedures change.
  • Use approved accounting, workflow, analytics, and AI tools to support review and training efficiency while validating outputs and protecting client information.
