Experience: 5+ years of hands-on software engineering with a Bachelor’s degree; or 3 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 8 years experience. In lieu of a degree, 8+ years of relevant experience may suffice. 2+ years of backend experience in any OOP language.

Have 5+ years of hands-on software engineering experience with a Bachelor’s degree, or 3 years with a Master’s degree, or a PhD with 8 years of experience; 8+ years of relevant experience may substitute for a degree.
Have 2+ years of backend experience in any object-oriented programming language.
Have experience with OAuth 2.0, JWTs, and user session management.
Have experience developing applications with a modern Java backend stack using Spring Boot and Kubernetes on AWS.
Have experience building and consuming RESTful APIs.
Have experience with JavaScript and Node.js.
Have experience developing scalable microservices on cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
Have experience with modern software engineering practices and technologies such as CI/CD, containerized applications, and Agile (Scrum).
Demonstrate analytical and problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Be able to collaborate across functions, deliver projects, communicate trade-offs, and clarify ambiguity with stakeholders.
Payments or fintech domain experience is a nice-to-have.
Experience with a modern frontend technology such as React, Angular, VueJS, or NextJS is a nice-to-have.
Experience with highly available distributed systems, including sharding, replication, load balancing, and caching, is a nice-to-have.

Design, build, test, and continually improve user interfaces and the backend services that support them.
Define and deliver well-scoped project milestones, and serve as a technical lead when appropriate.
Use customer needs and product stakeholder input to determine technical solutions.
Write clear, maintainable, reusable, efficient code that adapts to changing requirements.
Identify gaps, challenge the status quo, and propose plans to address them.
Lead design for medium components or features and participate in design for larger ones.
Own a component or feature of the system and design software components that are testable, debuggable, and maintainable.
Guide less-experienced team members and participate in on-call coverage.
