Requirements
- Have 6+ years of experience as a software engineer.
- Have 3+ years shipping production TypeScript/Node backends.
- Have shipped work at a company that moved money or handled bank or card data, such as Plaid, Stripe Treasury, Unit, Synapse-era BaaS, card issuing, lending, or payroll.
- Bring deep PostgreSQL experience, including migrations safe to run on live data, indexes, transactions, and query plans.
- Have real experience with asynchronous systems, including idempotency, retries, webhook deduplication, and jobs that fail halfway.
- Apply security-first practices around PII, encryption at rest, auth tokens, and least privilege.
- Have taken solo ownership of production at least once, including on-call, reading error tracking, and writing root-cause analyses.
- Use AI coding tools daily, such as Claude Code or Cursor, and have clear views on where they go wrong.
- Have written English good enough that a PR description or incident write-up needs no follow-up questions.
Responsibilities
- Work across a TypeScript monorepo containing a Next.js web app and API, an Expo mobile app, and a Cloudflare Worker.
- Maintain a PostgreSQL and Prisma data model shared across apps, including its migration history.
- Build and maintain webhook handlers for Plaid, Stripe, and Linq.
- Handle queued inbound-message batching and scheduled jobs.
- Work on security-sensitive paths involving encrypted bank tokens and chat content, per-user data scoping, and authentication across web and mobile.
- Develop the AI layer, including LLM tool-calling over users' financial data, long-term memory, and proactive insights.
- Review AI-generated code, including your own, with a skeptical eye.
