Requirements
- Have proven experience in a senior legal role in a startup or high-growth company.
- Have strong project management skills.
- Independently analyze legal matters and conduct thorough research on applicable laws.
- Deliver clear, practical advice, including in unfamiliar legal areas.
- Locate, analyze, and interpret legal and regulatory materials through public databases and direct communication with regulatory bodies.
- Demonstrate a proactive and resourceful approach to obtaining answers, pursuing clarity, and escalating when needed.
Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day legal support and advise leadership on legal and regulatory matters.
- Draft, review, and strengthen contracts and customer terms.
- Support new product launches and expansion into new markets while ensuring compliance with local requirements.
- Lead debt recovery efforts, including demand letters, payment negotiations, and lawsuits against non-paying customers.
- Handle litigation and commercial disputes, prepare court documents, and represent the company where authorized or work with external counsel.
- Pursue enforcement of judgments and settlements to recover outstanding debts and company property.
- Communicate with law enforcement and regulatory authorities regarding suspected fraud, theft, or unreturned property.
- Work with finance and operations to prioritize cases, organize evidence, and track legal costs and recovery results.
