Requirements

  • Have shipped and operated a backend Python API in production, including being responsible when it fails.
  • Be comfortable with FastAPI and SQL.
  • Have experience with data- and analytics-heavy systems where numerical correctness matters.
  • Apply product engineering judgment by considering what a price is for and who uses it.
  • Use Claude or a similar agent in daily code writing, testing and review workflows.
  • Be able to own a project end to end, including scoping, delivery and quality.
  • Experience in fintech, energy pricing, neo-utilities or ad-tech is desirable.
  • Experience working inside or alongside machine learning teams is desirable.
  • AWS and serverless patterns, including Lambda, event-driven services and Postgres on RDS, are desirable.
  • Polars experience, or an interest in making numerical code fast, is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Design and ship components of the Pricing API, owning work from design through production.
  • Improve the time to a first customer price without sacrificing accuracy.
  • Build error handling, observability and alerting so pricing failures are visible and explainable.
  • Extract and consolidate pricing logic so the pricing engine owns its behavior end to end.
  • Handle live pricing questions and incidents, and turn findings into structural fixes.
  • Build detection and alerting to catch bad or slow prices before they reach a customer.
  • Give the commercial team self-serve answers about why a price cannot be produced.
