Requirements
- Bring 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, including substantial time as a Senior or Lead individual contributor on complex systems.
- Have deep expertise in backend or frontend engineering.
- For backend expertise, bring experience with Java (Spring / Spring Boot), microservices, scalable system design, PostgreSQL/MySQL and NoSQL data modeling, event-driven architectures, REST APIs, AWS, and Docker/Kubernetes.
- For frontend expertise, bring production React and TypeScript experience at scale, component architecture, performance, testing, and build/CI tooling.
- Be able to reason across the full stack, from data model to API to UI.
- Have experience designing for high availability, security, and operability in production.
- Bring a strong testing practice across unit, integration, and contract tests, and familiarity with CI/CD and GitHub Actions.
- Have a track record of written technical designs that others can challenge and execute against.
- Demonstrate influence without formal authority and communicate trade-offs clearly to Product, Design, and leadership.
- Bring a product mindset, intellectual honesty, and mentorship instincts.
- Have strong English; Spanish is a plus for LATAM collaboration.
Responsibilities
- Drive system design for cross-pod initiatives spanning APIs, data models, event flows, and reliability patterns.
- Set and model standards for code quality, testing, observability, and secure design.
- Influence engineering practices through RFCs, architecture reviews, and pairing.
- Partner with Engineering Directors, Pod Leads, and Product on sequencing, technical debt, and platform investments.
- Mentor Senior and Mid engineers through design reviews and deep pairing.
- Lead or co-lead response and remediation for high-severity incidents on influenced systems.
- Author meaningful production pull requests and regularly ship code.
