Hold a bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or another quantitative discipline; a master's degree or PhD is a plus.
Bring relevant experience designing, building, deploying, and operating distributed backend services in production.
Have a proven track record of taking features from design through production and maintaining ownership in live environments.
Have deep expertise in at least one of Java/Kotlin, Go, Rust, C++, or C#, including its memory model, concurrency model, and runtime.
Be productive in Python and have full-stack production experience with TypeScript and a modern web framework.
Have hands-on production observability experience, including metrics, distributed tracing, structured logging, and SLOs.
Have performance-engineering experience with profiling, query optimization, caching, load testing, capacity planning, and tail-latency reduction.
Have strong distributed-systems knowledge, including timeouts, retries, idempotency, partial failures, streaming technologies such as SSE or WebSockets, and p95 and p99 latency.
Demonstrate day-to-day fluency with coding agent harnesses such as Cursor, Claude Code, and Codex, including evaluating and validating AI-generated code.
Communicate clearly in writing and verbally, explaining architecture, technical decisions, and trade-offs to experienced engineering stakeholders.
Have advanced English communication skills; Spanish is a plus.

Design, implement, test, deploy, and operate backend services against latency, availability, reliability, and cost targets.
Build and maintain typed, versioned API contracts and manage authentication, authorization, and multi-tenant access controls.
Deliver features end to end, including backend APIs and user interfaces, and integrate applications with internal and AI or agent services.
Own analytical data read paths, including data modeling, query planning, pagination, batching, caching, and consistency decisions.
Profile services, reduce tail latency, optimize cost per request, and conduct load and capacity testing.
Build observability with metrics, structured logging, distributed tracing, SLIs, SLOs, alerts, and dashboards; participate in on-call and incident response.
Implement safe deployment practices, including feature flags, canary releases, fast rollbacks, automated testing, and reliable release processes.
Document designs, evaluate architectural alternatives using measurements and prototypes, and raise engineering standards through reviews and pairing.
Use coding agent tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, and Codex, and critically review generated code.
