Requirements
- Hold a bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Auditing, or a related field.
- Have one or more years of experience in Internal Audit or External Audit.
- Review detailed documents accurately and consistently.
- Manage multiple deadlines and a steady queue of work independently.
- Have a general understanding of loan operations, closing, post-closing, and compliance functions.
- Have basic knowledge of internal controls, risk assessment, and audit concepts.
- Use Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
- Demonstrate analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Identify documentation exceptions or control concerns.
- Maintain a stable, reliable internet connection and a professional, dedicated remote working environment.
- Preferred: exposure to loan operations, post-closing, lending compliance, quality control, servicing, or internal audit activities.
- Preferred: familiarity with loan servicing, workflow management, and systems such as LAPro, QuickBase, or Monday.com.
Responsibilities
- Conduct audits across loan origination, underwriting, servicing, collections, payoff, closing, post-closing, and compliance activities.
- Evaluate internal controls and assess compliance with policies, procedures, applicable laws, regulations, and investor requirements.
- Review loan files, loan activity, system data, reports, and supporting documentation for accuracy and completeness.
- Assess post-closing controls for documentation, loan boarding, collateral records, lien perfection, investor reporting, and exception management.
- Perform audit testing, walkthroughs, data analysis, continuous monitoring, and risk assessments in support of the annual audit plan.
- Conduct ad hoc investigations, special reviews, and management-requested projects.
- Prepare audit workpapers, findings, recommendations, and management reports.
- Validate corrective actions and monitor remediation of audit findings.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders while maintaining audit independence and objectivity.
