Requirements
- Hold a bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Be able to successfully obtain a U.S. Federal Position of Trust clearance designation.
- Have experience in backend service development using modern programming languages.
- Be familiar with RESTful APIs, integrations, and asynchronous processing.
- Understand cloud deployment patterns and automated testing.
- Be able to troubleshoot production issues in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Maintain a strong focus on code quality, maintainability, and security.
Responsibilities
- Enhance and maintain the Travel Pay API, Claim Ingest API, and backend systems supporting BTSSS.
- Develop integrations with VA.gov, the VA API ecosystem (vets-api), mobile apps, and staff-facing tools.
- Implement performant, secure, and reliable services for automated claim adjudication and processing.
- Support two-week sprint delivery through coding, testing, and documentation.
- Participate in code reviews, pair programming, and continuous improvement activities.
- Collaborate with DevOps to support CI/CD workflows and zero-downtime deployments.
- Troubleshoot production issues and participate in on-call escalations where needed.
- Ensure work adheres to VA standards, including 508 accessibility, security, and authoritative data usage.
