Requirements

  • Hold a bachelor’s degree; Accounting or Finance is preferred.
  • Have a minimum of 10+ years of insurance experience.
  • Have experience with a State Insurance Department, insurance company, financial examination firm, or public accounting firm auditing insurance companies.
  • Have completed or be actively pursuing the Certified Financial Examiner (CFE) designation.
  • CPA is preferred but not required.
  • Have prior Examiner-in-Charge experience on significant and complex financial examinations.
  • Bring deep insurance industry experience and knowledge of all lines of insurance.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the NAIC Financial Condition Examiners Handbook and insurance laws, rules, statutes, and regulations.
  • Have experience drafting proposals, including scope, workplans, and budgets.
  • Demonstrate project management experience handling multiple large and complex assignments concurrently.
  • Be flexible to travel when necessary.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with presentation, spreadsheet, and project planning software; examples include TeamMate, Access, Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

  • Lead comprehensive multi-state risk-focused, targeted, and interim financial examinations for state insurance departments.
  • Serve as an Examiner-in-Charge or subject matter expert on examinations, including large and complex assignments.
  • Manage client relationships and grow a significant book of financial examination business.
  • Develop proposals, workplans, and budgets, and oversee engagements from proposal through delivery.
  • Review examination work papers and ensure the quality and integrity of the regulatory examination process.
  • Draft examination reports, management letters, review memoranda, exhibits, and supporting schedules.
  • Review insurance company documentation and data for compliance with state insurance statutes and regulations.
  • Supervise, coach, train, and develop staff and state department personnel.
  • Provide training and presentations on insurance industry and examination topics.
