Requirements
- At least 10 years of progressively responsible finance and accounting experience.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field.
- Deep knowledge of US GAAP, financial reporting, technical accounting, close management, audits, tax coordination, and internal controls.
- Ability to build and maintain integrated financial models.
- Experience leading budgeting, forecasting, scenario planning, and variance analysis across multiple entities or business lines.
- Prior experience as a Controller, Senior Controller, or senior finance leader responsible for financial reporting and planning.
- Experience with GAAP and non-GAAP financial reporting and complex technical accounting matters.
- Experience building or scaling finance capabilities at an early-stage or growth-stage company.
- Strong business judgment and ability to translate financial information into practical recommendations for senior leaders.
- Cross-functional leadership and influencing skills, including establishing accountability and driving outcomes without formal reporting authority.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including preparing materials for senior executives, boards, and board committees.
- Active CPA license preferred.
- Public company experience, Big Four public accounting or comparable fast-paced corporate experience, and experience in financial services, securities markets, exchanges, or venture-backed technology companies are preferred.
Responsibilities
- Maintain accountability for accurate, complete, and timely enterprise financial statements.
- Set close requirements and review monthly, quarterly, and year-end close results.
- Lead annual financial statement audits and coordinate with external auditors and internal stakeholders.
- Own budget-to-actual reporting, the annual budgeting process, enterprise re-forecasting, and scenario planning.
- Develop and maintain the enterprise-wide long-term financial model.
- Lead enterprise expense management and provide financial analyses and recommendations to senior leaders.
- Support preparation of financial materials for boards and board committees.
- Oversee core accounting processes, tax compliance, the annual 409A valuation, stock-based compensation records, and capitalization table management.
- Evaluate and improve financial systems, processes, and controls.
- Partner with Legal, Risk, Operations, and other functions to address financial, operational, and compliance risks.
