Requirements

  • Bring staff-level technical depth in site reliability engineering.
  • Be able to critically review Terraform, pipeline definitions, and architecture proposals.
  • Have personally built and operated SRE or DevOps machinery.
  • Have experience carrying technical context during an incident.
  • Have people-management experience hiring, growing, and running a small SRE or DevOps team.
  • Own team delivery as well as technical architecture.
  • Have experience with AWS GovCloud environments and FedRAMP delivery.
  • Be able to lead DevOps, SRE, and security automation engineers.
  • Understand fleet upgrade orchestration, golden images, and staged rollouts at hundreds-to-thousands scale.

Responsibilities

  • Own the AWS GovCloud landing zone, including multi-account structure, SCPs, guardrails, logging and security-tooling accounts, and IaC-native provisioning.
  • Own the continuous-compliance evidence pipeline for collecting, normalizing, and reporting FedRAMP 20x Key Security Indicators.
  • Own continuous monitoring obligations for covered environments and keep that operational load off feature-team engineers.
  • Own required CI/CD pipelines, including build, signing, artifact management, quality and security gates, and cloud cost visibility.
  • Own production change governance, access controls, approval standards, and auditable separation of development and production duties.
  • Own release and update machinery for cloud fleets, including security updates, staged rollouts, cluster-coordinated installs, and patch verification.
  • Own incident management processes, tooling, on-call design, and post-incident review cadence.
  • Drive automated environment promotion from development through staging to production.
  • Run intake and prioritization for operational requests, maintaining a trusted view of active work, owners, and risks.
  • Lead and develop DevOps, SRE, and security automation engineers; partner on workforce planning, hiring, role design, and onboarding.
