Requirements
- Have 5+ years of professional full-stack web development experience.
- Have strong proficiency in TypeScript, React, Python, and FastAPI.
- Have experience integrating LLMs such as OpenAI or Anthropic for classification, extraction, or personalization.
- Have hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor or Claude Code and comfort using them in a daily workflow.
- Have experience with PostgreSQL and API design.
- Be self-directed and able to work independently in a remote environment.
- Have a strong passion for EnGen’s mission to help immigrants and refugees remove English as a barrier to career advancement.
- Preferred: experience building edtech or language learning platforms.
- Preferred: knowledge of NLP and educational AI applications.
- Preferred: familiarity with WCAG accessibility standards.
- Preferred: experience with Railway, Cloudflare, or similar cloud infrastructure.
- Preferred: multilingual capabilities, particularly Spanish.
Responsibilities
- Deliver production software across the TypeScript/React frontend and Python/FastAPI backend.
- Build responsive web applications for desktop and mobile learners.
- Design and implement scalable APIs for the learning platform.
- Develop real-time features for interactive lessons, conversation practice, and learner-coach communication.
- Integrate LLMs for content classification, skill assessment, learner feedback, and personalization.
- Build information extraction systems to analyze learner responses.
- Implement AI-powered conversation practice and multilingual support.
- Write and test code, and review AI-generated output.
- Use and refine AI-assisted development workflows.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and education specialists; contribute to A/B testing and learning experience optimization.
