Requirements
- Experience managing QA engineers and improving quality at a high-growth technology company.
- Experience coaching people, managing performance, and building a team that takes ownership.
- Experience recreating customer environments to reproduce difficult issues and verify fixes before release.
- Ability to turn product and customer risks into a practical QA strategy with clear priorities and evidence of results.
- Ability to lead conversations outside engineering, align stakeholders, and explain technical trade-offs to customers.
- Sound technical judgment and willingness to stay close to the work while helping others solve problems independently.
- Ability to handle ambiguity and determine when to investigate, escalate risk, or move a release forward.
- Experience with desktop apps, browser extensions, enterprise device management, security software, or authentication is especially relevant.
- Experience leading a distributed team is valuable.
Responsibilities
- Coach QA engineers, set expectations, give feedback, and support performance and career growth.
- Set and prioritize the QA roadmap and testing tools around customer impact.
- Partner with Engineering, Product, and Customer Success to define release readiness and surface risks.
- Help the team recreate customer environments, isolate failures, validate fixes, and prevent regressions.
- Improve testing through exploratory testing, targeted automation, and engineering-owned coverage.
- Address testing risks involving performance, session persistence, authentication, and capture correctness.
- Communicate evidence, uncertainty, and next steps to technical and nontechnical stakeholders, including customers.
- Work with customers and their IT teams to investigate issues and turn findings into repeatable testing and rollout practices.
