- Comfort using phones, fax machines, printers, and other general office equipment regularly.
- Attention to detail and quality when handling accurate and compliant medical-record information.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision while responding to changing priorities and role needs.
- Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to commute between locations as needed.
- Able to work overtime during peak seasons when required.
Responsibilities
- Receive and process requests for patient health information in accordance with company and facility policies and procedures.
- Maintain confidentiality and security of privileged information and apply medical privacy regulations to prevent unauthorized disclosure.
- Manage and safeguard patient health records, ensuring compliance with HIPAA standards.
- Prepare new patient charts using documents and information from paper sources or electronic health records.
- Assemble medical records in standard order and ensure they are accurate and complete.
- Create digital images of paperwork for storage in the electronic medical record.
- Retrieve and transmit patient records in response to requests from facility staff and external sources.
- Answer inbound and outbound calls and assist patient walk-ins as needed.
- Handle administrative duties such as faxes, mail, and data entry as needed.
- Inform the manager of work or site difficulties and fluctuating volumes.
