Requirements
- Bring deep expertise in data, compliance, and product legal matters.
- Navigate U.S. and European data privacy laws, including GDPR and CCPA.
- Understand data controller and processor distinctions and their implications for vendor and product decisions.
- Translate privacy and compliance requirements into scalable playbooks, templates, intake processes, and self-service guidance.
- Have experience supporting customer security questionnaires and partnering with security, sales, product, and engineering teams.
- Be familiar with SOC 2 Type II and related legal, privacy, and customer requirements.
- Understand intellectual property law, especially brand, content, and software.
- Understand commercial contracts.
- Have experience as in-house counsel at a technology company or serving a technology portfolio at a top-tier startup-focused firm.
- Hold a J.D. from an accredited law school in the United States.
- Be an active member in good standing of a State Bar Association.
Responsibilities
- Advise the business on product legal strategy, especially privacy, data, AI, and compliance.
- Support commercial contracts and customer security requirements.
- Design scalable intake, guidance, and escalation systems for recurring privacy questions, particularly for Subscriber Signals.
- Own GDPR and data compliance vetting and establish a process for responding to customer security questionnaires.
- Partner with Sales, Sponsorships, Security, Product, and Engineering throughout product initiatives and releases.
- Build playbooks, templates, intake processes, and self-service guidance for recurring privacy, data-use, and compliance questions.
- Prioritize legal risks, streamline legal workflows, and reduce unnecessary reliance on outside counsel.
- Provide legal support across privacy, compliance, product counsel, commercial contracts, and security.
