Requirements
- Have 4-8+ years of experience in operations, chief of staff, or program management roles.
- Have meaningful experience inside a venture fund, private equity firm, accelerator, or startup.
- Operate independently and set priorities without needing a queue of assigned work.
- Exercise sound judgment about which decisions to make independently, report, or escalate.
- Be comfortable working in ambiguity, creating processes, and revising them as the portfolio changes.
- Read monthly P&Ls, manage budgets, hold outside accountants to a close calendar, and identify unusual figures.
- Be comfortable with entity setup, insurance, registrations, and working with outside counsel and accountants.
- Use Mac OS and Google Suite, including Calendar, Drive, Sheets, and Docs.
- Demonstrate discretion and an understanding of confidentiality.
- Have excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to build relationships across teams.
Responsibilities
- Support fundraising operations, maintain investor tracking and the program budget, and manage payment milestones for participating companies.
- Help early-stage companies get started and keep them accountable to timelines and milestones.
- Review monthly financials with outside accountants, maintain budgets across the studio and projects, flag variances, and update operating expenses based on monthly trends.
- Manage insurance for new projects and entities, including applications, quote review, underwriting, renewals, and certificates.
- Own agendas, inputs, and follow-ups for weekly operations meetings, pipeline reviews, and monthly business reviews.
- Set up new teams with the tools, accounts, and administrative support they need, and support project close-outs.
- Coordinate project teams and outside counsel on trademarks, patents, terms and privacy policies, consulting agreements, and NDAs; track work to completion.
- Manage registrations, compliance agents, and third-party services across entities and project websites.
- Meet with project leads, track open items to closure, and escalate relevant information to leadership.
- Plan and run events and professional development programming.
