At least 2 years of professional translation experience combined with a degree in Translation, Linguistics, or a related field, or 5+ years of professional translation experience without a formal translation degree.

  • Demonstrate English-to-French translation experience across multiple content types, particularly marketing, UI, product, informational, and support content.
  • Have professional experience with CAT tools and familiarity with modern localization workflows.
  • Bring strong copy-editing skills and exceptional attention to linguistic and contextual detail.
  • Be able to produce high-quality work efficiently in a fast-paced localization environment.
  • Be responsive, reliable, communicative, and open to feedback.
  • Be able to work independently as a freelance or independent contractor.

Responsibilities

  • Translate English content into clear, accurate, and natural French across marketing, UI, product, support, informational, and legal materials.
  • Copy-edit and refine French content for linguistic accuracy, consistency, readability, tone, and cultural relevance.
  • Perform machine translation post-editing while maintaining localization quality standards.
  • Manage an expected workload of 5,000+ words per week and meet agreed deadlines.
  • Use CAT tools and client-specific localization workflows to manage translation and editing tasks.
  • Review content for terminology, grammar, style, formatting, and contextual issues.
  • Communicate proactively about assignments, questions, deadlines, feedback, and revisions.
  • Incorporate feedback and revisions to maintain consistency across ongoing projects.
