Requirements
- Have 10–12 years of experience overseeing executive communications, ideally in-house and in a fast-paced, high-growth technology or AI environment.
- Have 3+ years of people management experience.
- Have experience with pre-IPO communications.
- Have experience in policy and regulatory communications.
- Be an exceptional writer who can distill complex, cross-functional topics into simple, compelling narratives.
- Have experience serving as a communications business partner or trusted advisor to senior leaders, executives, and people or human resources teams.
- Bring strong project management skills and an organized, process-driven approach.
- Be comfortable providing collaborative, direct feedback to executives and independently implementing feedback.
- Be able to navigate organizational dynamics and build relationships across all levels.
- Be able to prioritize in ambiguous, fast-moving environments.
Responsibilities
- Refine the executive communications strategy to select the strongest opportunities and stages for Cohere.
- Develop and implement corporate communications strategies aligned with organizational goals, values, and brand positioning.
- Drive executive content across speaking opportunities, op-eds, podcasts, and executive social media.
- Build and manage a small team, including one speechwriter and one external vendor.
- Develop and execute rapid response communications on behalf of executives.
- Oversee executive speaking engagements, industry conferences, customer events, and internal leadership gatherings.
- Lead cross-functional storytelling initiatives connecting daily work to Cohere’s mission, customer successes, and executive thought leadership.
- Use data-driven insights and audience research to inform communications for employees, customers, partners, investors, and industry influencers.
- Support crisis and issues communications preparedness and response, coordinating with legal and functional teams when needed.
- Coordinate executive messaging across internal communications, external PR, marketing narratives, and other touchpoints.
