Requirements
- Have 7+ years of relevant experience in advanced software development, including 2+ years of engineering leadership experience.
- Hold a bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- Be comfortable leading engineers across frontend and backend disciplines.
- Have hands-on understanding of scalability, reliability, observability, and security principles.
- Have experience owning or leading platform, DevOps, security, developer tooling, or similar engineering initiatives.
- Understand software engineering fundamentals, best practices, and problem-solving, and be able to guide senior and staff-level engineers.
- Be familiar with testing strategies and CI/CD pipelines, with a focus on maintainability, reliability, and code quality.
- Have working knowledge of incident response practices and operational reliability.
- Be able to lead teams through execution, resolve blockers, and ensure delivery commitments are met.
- Demonstrate communication, organization, prioritization, and stakeholder management skills, including negotiating competing priorities across teams.
- Demonstrate AI literacy, including the ability to use AI tools to improve productivity, decision-making, and work quality with sound judgment and critical thinking.
Responsibilities
- Lead and support a cross-functional engineering team, focusing on delivery, people development, team performance, and continuous process improvement.
- Balance the team's technical roadmap with prioritized requests from multiple product teams, communicating priorities, dependencies, and trade-offs.
- Maintain and evolve engineering-wide standards covering security, tooling, CI/CD, developer experience, and shared engineering practices.
- Partner with the Infrastructure team on shared platform concerns while maintaining clear ownership boundaries and responsibilities.
- Mentor engineers, conduct one-on-one meetings, establish goals, evaluate performance, and provide continuous feedback.
- Support technical decision-making and ensure delivery processes remain effective and commitments are met.
- Establish delivery estimates, monitor progress, identify risks, and help the team remove blockers.
- Own recruitment, hiring, and onboarding activities.
- Foster documentation, knowledge sharing, and open communication across the engineering organization.
- Continuously improve engineering processes and ways of working in a remote-first environment.
