Requirements
- Demonstrate proficiency in the JVM ecosystem, including Java and Scala.
- Bring experience with Rust; Rust experience is highly desired.
- Have Python skills.
- Have experience with SQL and data processing such as Spark or similar.
- Understand distributed systems design.
- Have experience with observability and resilience engineering.
- Be able to reason about systems as a whole and trace problems to root causes.
- Be able to read large, unfamiliar codebases and determine what needs to change.
- Apply testing discipline and test software thoroughly.
- Be comfortable working through ambiguous problems without detailed specifications.
Responsibilities
- Investigate inherited Scala systems, identify root causes, and make the systems scale.
- Redesign the data layer used by ML and AI products.
- Build a Rust framework for teams to develop correct, performant services.
- Improve observability and resilience across the platform.
- Shape developer tooling and engineering standards.
- Drive AI tool adoption across the company.
- Work across JVM technologies including Java and Scala, Rust, Python, SQL, and Spark.
