Requirements
- Demonstrated experience creating workplace safety and/or EHS training content.
- Working knowledge of OSHA standards and training mandates.
- Understand the difference between awareness-level training and required authorized/competent person training.
- Ability to translate regulatory requirements into engaging digital training, preferably in an LMS or e-learning format.
- Experience with AI-powered course authoring tools such as Articulate Rise.
- Experience using generative AI tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, or Gemini in course design and content development.
- Strong written communication, instructional design principles, and attention to detail.
- Preferred: Active OSHA Outreach Trainer authorization for 10-hour and/or 30-hour programs in General Industry and/or Construction.
- Preferred: Familiarity with state-plan OSHA programs and differences from federal standards.
- Preferred: Training development experience in high-hazard industries such as manufacturing, construction, warehousing, oil and gas, or healthcare.
- Preferred: Background in EHS management systems or environmental compliance training, including EPA, RCRA, or DOT hazmat.
- Preferred: Current Certified Instructional Trainer (CIT) certification from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals.
Responsibilities
- Brainstorm, outline, develop, and QA workplace safety and EHS courses.
- Create training covering OSHA General Industry and Construction standards, including hazard communication, emergency action planning, PPE, and lockout/tagout, as well as DOT and EPA compliance topics.
- Translate federal and state safety regulations into clear, engaging, learner-centered training experiences.
- Ensure course content meets applicable regulatory requirements, including OSHA training mandates and documentation standards.
- Design accessible courses for frontline workers, supervisors, and safety managers.
- Monitor changes to OSHA standards, EPA regulations, and state-specific EHS requirements.
- Flag regulatory updates that require course revisions.
- Apply practical workplace safety knowledge to reflect how safety standards are implemented on the job.
