Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in biomechanics, accident reconstruction, and premises liability work or similar.
  • Degree in Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering.
  • PE license, PhD, SAE certification and/or ACTAR certification required.
  • Demonstrated success establishing clientele and rapport with insurance carriers, lawyers, and adjusters.
  • Extensive experience providing expert deposition and courtroom testimony.
  • Advanced proficiency in CAD as applied to accident reconstruction and forensic analysis.
  • Strong background in automotive engineering and automotive control systems.
  • Experience performing, evaluating, and interpreting computer simulations.
  • Experience collaborating with forensic animators to develop visual exhibits for depositions and trial presentations.
  • Comfort operating in a billable, project-based consulting environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of experts conducting detailed vehicle and accident-site inspections and analyzing crash sequences, contributing factors, and occupant loading.
  • Use computer models and advanced collision reconstruction software such as PC-Crash, Virtual Crash, or HVE to reconstruct accidents and assess load and injury levels.
  • Inspect and measure vehicles and review police reports, medical records, depositions, expert reports, legal documents, videos, and photographs.
  • Determine human injury mechanisms in vehicular accidents and premises liability cases, including slip-and-fall incidents.
  • Calculate impact and departure speeds, collision forces, and vehicle trajectories, and compare calculations with crash test reports.
  • Provide written conclusions and explain investigative findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Provide expert testimony at trials, depositions, and other legal proceedings.
  • Mentor and guide the expert team, distribute workload, and ensure project budgets, timelines, and deliverables are managed.
  • Build and maintain client relationships and support business development by partnering with representatives and attending conferences and events.
