Requirements
- Have 8+ years of software development experience.
- Have a track record of building highly efficient and highly available software using Golang, Java, C++, or similar programming languages.
- Have deep experience with concurrent programming.
- Have experience building concurrent, highly available, high-throughput RESTful web services.
- Have experience operating in cloud computing environments using modern deployment technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Be able to own and drive complex architectural and development tasks to completion using Scrum or Agile methodologies.
- Have experience working with large amounts of data and using data-based decisions to prioritize projects.
- Be familiar with relational and non-relational databases, data warehousing, and querying.
- Have experience with cloud video transcoding services such as AWS Elemental or Azure Media Services.
- Ideal qualifications include experience with audio/video codecs, video quality assessment tools, video streaming protocols, OTT video packaging and DRM, or Server-Side Ad Insertion.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, deploy, and monitor the next generation of Philo’s video streaming pipeline using in-house technology and open source software.
- Collaborate with content partners to engineer systems for delivering the TV watching experience.
- Build scalable and resilient data pipelines for ingesting video and analytics events using distributed computing and microservices principles.
- Work with video delivery, ad operations, and data science teams to measure and optimize video delivery and the viewing experience.
- Improve the reliability, performance, latency, and security of Philo’s video streaming platform.
- Evaluate, select, and develop video encoding technologies to optimize video quality and reduce CDN delivery costs.
- Assist client engineering teams in testing and improving video streaming QoE for new platform apps.
