Requirements
- Have an associate's degree or equivalent qualification from a two-year college or technical school, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
- Have at least 2 years of experience working with HVAC controls or building automation systems, including commissioning and startup activities.
- Have practical understanding of HVACR mechanical, electrical, and control systems.
- Have strong computer skills and the ability to work effectively with technical systems and software.
- Demonstrate troubleshooting, problem-solving, and customer-service abilities.
- Be able to explain technical concepts clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Be able to work independently in a remote field-based environment while managing multiple service assignments.
- Be willing and able to travel extensively, including up to 70% within Canada and occasional overnight travel.
- A two-year degree in electronics, mechanical systems, or a related technical discipline is preferred.
- Approximately 2 years of experience installing electronic and/or mechanical systems is preferred.
- 313A certification is preferred.
- Bilingual English/French skills are preferred.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and resolve HVAC mechanical, electrical, and control-related issues in the field.
- Support service activities, commissioning, and startup for new installations, retrofit projects, and existing customer sites.
- Meet with customers to understand operational challenges, identify recurring issues, and become familiar with their systems.
- Explain completed service work, outstanding issues, recommended improvements, system upgrades, and potential replacement opportunities.
- Manage assigned service activities while meeting timelines, quality standards, and customer requirements.
- Load, configure, and commission system- and network-level controllers as required.
- Validate system functionality and troubleshoot issues with subcontractors, trades, and project stakeholders.
- Communicate field changes and technical information to project teams for as-built drawings and software updates.
- Maintain awareness of safety bulletins, field change notices, and applicable safety requirements, and follow established safety procedures.
