Requirements
- Have an Associate’s Degree in Accounting or 3-4 years of commensurate experience; a high school diploma is required with equivalent experience.
- Have at least 2 years of experience with computerized, multi-state payroll systems and multi-company processing.
- Have experience handling complex national payroll for more than 1,000 employees.
- Have advanced experience with HRIS and time-and-attendance software; UltiPro and Kronos are preferred.
- Know federal, state, and local employment requirements related to wage and hour, payroll tax, and multi-state payroll, including multi-state FLSA pay rules.
- Have strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Be able to calculate wages, garnishments, commissions, deductions, final paychecks, and PTO accruals and balances.
- Be able to train others on payroll systems, processes, and reporting.
- Be able to organize, prioritize, multitask, and manage time while maintaining accuracy in a changing environment.
- Exercise strict confidentiality in payroll matters.
Responsibilities
- Process payroll and payroll reporting, coordinating workflows to meet bi-weekly deadlines.
- Confirm payroll transactions comply with federal, state, and local laws and company policies.
- Audit time-and-attendance hours, including hours worked, overtime, alternate schedules, PTO, and holidays.
- Maintain payroll systems and processes, including time-and-attendance systems, and review coworker data entry for accuracy.
- Process deductions and remittances for garnishments, child support, IRS levies, and court orders.
- Compile payroll reports and investigate and resolve exception items.
- Assist with earnings, taxes, deductions, accruals, forecasts, hours-worked analyses, and year-end reporting.
- Reconcile payroll issues, maintain historical records, and support internal controls and Worker’s Comp audits.
- Support payroll training, PTO accruals, and 401k contributions and reporting.
