Requirements
- Have 8+ years of experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale.
- Have experience using backend languages such as Python or Kotlin.
- Have an extensive track record developing highly available distributed systems.
- Have experience with technologies such as AWS, MySQL, Spark, and Kubernetes.
- Have experience delivering major features or system components, or deprecating existing functionality, through a technical and execution plan.
- Write high-quality code that is easily understood and used by others.
- Be comfortable working from low-level language idioms through large-system architecture.
- Demonstrate experience gathering and iterating on feedback from engineering and cross-functional peers.
- Have strong verbal and written communication skills for collaboration with a global engineering team.
- Have equivalent practical experience or a bachelor’s degree in a related field.
Responsibilities
- Set the team’s technical strategy on a year-long time scale and connect it to critical business-impacting projects.
- Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Define and advocate for technical solutions and operational processes.
- Own team operations and availability, including monitoring, triage rotations, playbooks, policies, testing, and alerting.
- Set code review and design standards and advocate for them through writing and tech talks.
- Provide feedback and guidance to develop talent on the team.
