Requirements
- Have 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with meaningful production experience on both backend and frontend.
- Have production experience with Go and Python, with strong skills in at least one and working proficiency in the other.
- Have hands-on experience designing and operating gRPC services with Protocol Buffers, including schema evolution, backward compatibility, streaming RPCs, deadlines, middleware, and error handling.
- Have experience building distributed, event-driven systems, including message queues, asynchronous job processing, and idempotent data ingestion.
- Have strong React and TypeScript skills, including component composition, state management, and typing practices.
- Have experience building monitoring, observability, or analytics dashboards with time-series charts, heatmaps, status views, and drill-down navigation.
- Have hands-on experience with data visualization libraries such as D3, ECharts, Recharts, uPlot, or Visx.
- Have experience rendering large or high-frequency datasets performantly, using techniques such as downsampling, virtualization, canvas, or WebGL.
- Have experience handling real-time browser data using WebSockets, server-sent events, or gRPC-Web streaming, with caching and refresh strategies.
- Have experience with modern CSS, responsive layouts, accessibility, and automated frontend testing with Jest and React Testing Library.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate Go and Python backend services for discovery, assurance, fleet management, and data ingestion.
- Define and evolve versioned gRPC and REST APIs using Protocol Buffers and OpenAPI.
- Build React and TypeScript dashboards for monitoring network and device health, telemetry, discovered data, and agent fleets.
- Design dashboard controls and visualizations, including time ranges, filters, thresholds, alert states, and links to devices in NetBox.
- Work with backend engineers on query and aggregation APIs that perform well with large fleets and high-frequency telemetry.
- Build type-safe frontend/backend integrations using generated API clients and shared schemas.
- Participate in the on-call rotation for owned services.
- Add automated tests across unit, integration, contract, and end-to-end levels, and enforce CI quality gates.
- Use AI-enabled development tools and workflows for design, coding, testing, review, and incident triage.
- Review code, mentor teammates, collaborate across teams, and contribute to planning and roadmap development.
