Requirements
- 6+ years of Android software engineering experience shipping production apps at consumer scale.
- At least 1 year of hands-on experience prompting, evaluating, and building with LLMs.
- Strong proficiency with Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, the Android View system, Android Studio, Kotlin Coroutines, and Flow.
- Experience with Android architecture patterns including MVVM, MVI, Clean Architecture, Jetpack, ViewModel, Navigation, and Hilt or Dagger in a large, multi-team codebase.
- Comfort with feature flagging, A/B testing, exposure logging, holdouts, and guardrail metrics.
- Grounding in mobile performance, memory, battery, ANR, and crash diagnostics, using tools such as Android Studio Profiler, Perfetto/Systrace, Macrobenchmark, and Crashlytics or equivalent.
- Experience with Android CI/CD, Gradle, modular build systems, and tools such as Fastlane, GitHub Actions, or Bitrise.
- Deep experience with agentic workflows, prompt engineering, context-window management, and MCP/function calling.
- Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent experience.
- Use AI coding assistants for substantive development tasks, critically review AI-generated code, and take responsibility for shipped work.
Responsibilities
- Design and build Android growth and monetization features and experiments, including subscription paywalls and pricing tests, ad placement and mediation, in-app purchase flows, and upsell and upgrade surfaces.
- Run dozens of concurrent tests across the Life360 app.
- Partner with product, design, data science, and analytics to turn hypotheses into shippable experiments and use results to inform subsequent decisions.
- Use Claude Code or equivalent AI tools to orchestrate agents for specifications, code and test generation, verification, and reviews.
- Instrument experiments with exposure logging and analytics.
- Ship polished, performant, and reliable Android experiences, with attention to startup time, memory, battery, ANR, and crash-free rates.
- Turn ambiguous or partially specified ideas into working versions for real users.
- Define and codify AI-native Android engineering practices and playbooks for the broader mobile organization.
- Contribute to architectural decisions, code reviews, and continuous improvement of the Android codebase.
- Participate in on-call rotation and incident response, mentor engineers, and contribute to team processes and technical standards.
