Requirements
- Minimum two years of experience in Medical Billing, Hospital Patient Access, or Hospital Business Office in an automated setting.
- Minimum one year of demonstrated strong analytical skills.
- Knowledge of registration, verification, pre-certification, and scheduling procedures.
- Knowledge of Medical and Insurance terminology (ICD-10, CPT 4).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Outlook.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience with the Epic Hospital Billing System is preferred.
- Associates degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or Healthcare related field preferred.
Responsibilities
- Initiate pre-authorization requests to payers for procedures requiring approval.
- Verify insurance eligibility and benefits for patients.
- Advise patients on financial obligations and collect payments.
- Monitor appropriateness and medical necessity for authorizations and continued visits.
- Perform quality assurance audits on patient accounts.
- Communicate with clinical partners and departments to facilitate information exchange for authorizations.
- Notify patients and providers when insurance coverage is inadequate or terminated.
