Requirements
- Prior experience in peer-reviewed scholarly publishing.
- Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word, including file types and conversions.
- Ability to work effectively under tight deadlines with high quality and accuracy.
- Demonstrated ability to set priorities and work independently.
- Growth mindset with a collaborative team-player mentality.
- Ability to maintain professional conduct and customer service attitudes.
- University degree or equivalent experience.
- Interest in science and advancing scientific knowledge.
- Proficiency with Editorial Manager database systems (preferred).
- Experience with CRM software like Salesforce (preferred).
- Awareness of and commitment to open science (preferred).
Responsibilities
- Ensure the timely, efficient peer review of all submissions.
- Address and resolve queries escalated by vendors or colleagues.
- Identify and remove barriers to manuscript submission.
- Proactively identify and diagnose workflow inefficiencies or backlogs.
- Troubleshoot persistent system or workflow issues and provide expertise.
- Serve as daily liaison with vendors to monitor performance against KPIs.
- Contribute to operational research outputs related to PLOS mission.
