Requirements
- Master’s degree in Social Work or Human Services required; a PhD is preferred.
- At least 2 years of online teaching experience in the Human & Social Services program.
- Three years of college-level education experience within the last ten years is preferred.
- Demonstrated expertise in the teaching discipline.
- Experience with educational theory, active learning, authentic assessment, and student-centered teaching practices.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, internet applications, and Blackboard.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with mentoring abilities.
- Successful completion of a 12-month probationary period.
- Ability to work independently in a virtual environment with reliable technology.
- Ability to work collaboratively within institutional policies and accreditation requirements.
Responsibilities
- Prepare assigned online courses in Blackboard and ensure all required course elements are completed by established deadlines.
- Provide approximately 12–14 hours of instructional activity per week, per course, including discussion facilitation, grading, student communication, and retention outreach.
- Facilitate substantive online discussions through personalized responses, higher-order questioning, and supplemental resources.
- Maintain accurate and timely grade books, evaluate student work against established rubrics, and provide individualized feedback.
- Monitor students who may be at risk academically, conduct appropriate outreach, and document retention efforts.
- Participate in required live and asynchronous faculty meetings, professional development activities, and workshops.
- Collaborate with full-time faculty and academic leadership to identify opportunities for course improvement.
