Requirements
- 2–3 years of relevant payroll and/or tax experience.
- Working knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax rules and requirements.
- Experience using data and analytical techniques to research and resolve payroll or tax discrepancies.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to work effectively with business data and documentation.
- Strong analytical and mathematical problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently, respond quickly to issues, and make well-reasoned decisions.
- Associate degree or higher preferred; equivalent experience may also be considered.
- Previous experience in payroll outsourcing or shared services is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Research, analyze, and resolve customer payroll and tax discrepancies and out-of-balance conditions in a timely manner.
- Review employer- and employee-level payroll and tax data to identify the source and impact of discrepancies.
- Perform mathematical calculations and data analysis to determine appropriate resolutions and support sound decision-making.
- Investigate tax-related issues across applicable U.S. jurisdictions and ensure corrective actions comply with federal, state, and local tax requirements.
- Use internal data analytics and available systems to research discrepancies, identify patterns, and develop effective solutions.
- Communicate the causes and resolutions of tax discrepancies clearly to customers and maintain accurate supporting documentation.
- Manage daily, monthly, and quarterly reconciliation activities related to payroll and taxes.
