Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration, public relations, marketing, journalism, behavioral science, social science, or a related field.
- Five years of professional-level experience in public relations or public affairs.
- Alternative: Eight years of experience directly related to the position, five of which must be at the professional level.
- Demonstrated experience developing and evolving public health brands and campaigns.
- Experience planning and managing mass media campaigns, including media planning and buying.
- Proficiency in using audience research to inform and evaluate communication strategies.
- Experience overseeing paid, earned, and owned media strategies.
- Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills for diverse audiences.
- Ability to manage multiple communications projects and prioritize competing deadlines.
- Ability to advise leadership on communications strategy and public policy messaging.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and manage strategic communications and marketing initiatives for the Health Promotion and Chronic Disease Prevention section.
- Coordinate with state agencies, Local Public Health Authorities, and community partners to maintain a cohesive brand image.
- Lead marketing, design, and outreach strategies in collaboration with contractors.
- Advise leadership on policy communications, reputational risk, and public engagement strategies.
- Disseminate science-based, audience-centered communication tools and resources.
- Establish standards for communication approaches across programs.
